Terms of use — beta
Plain words about what this is, and what it asks of you.
Version 2026-10-03-r2 · Effective 3 October 2026
KinNest helps you manage your digital legacy. It does not create wills, decide inheritance or provide legal advice. These terms are written to be read, not merely to be enforceable. The beta is free, and nothing here collects a payment.
Who operates KinNest
KinNest is owned and operated by Built4U Apps Private Limited, a company registered in India.
What KinNest does
You record what you own and where to find it, and you name the people it should reach. Your record can include notes, letters, and documents and photos you choose to upload. KinNest stores those uploads as part of your record; it does not hold the assets or original physical documents. KinNest does not ask for access to your financial accounts or login credentials. We recommend keeping passwords, PINs and other access credentials separately, and recording where to find them in KinNest. If you go quiet for a long time, we ask the people you named to check on you; if one of them tells us they cannot reach you, and you still do not answer, your record opens to them seven days later. Your own check-in stops everything, at any point.
We hand over information, never ownership. Who receives what is for your family and the law, exactly as it would have been without us.
What you are responsible for
- Keeping your PIN and your device secure, and not sharing your sign-in.
- The accuracy and lawfulness of what you record.
- Who you name — and keeping that current. The record only ever opens to a person you named yourself.
- Keeping your subscription current if you want to keep moving the handover date — see the next section, which is deliberately not a bullet in this list.
A person who reports that they cannot reach you is responsible for the truthfulness of that report. It is made in their own name and recorded.
If your subscription ends
If you stop paying after starting the watch, your record can still be handed over.
We cannot tell whether you ended your subscription or somebody else did, so we do not treat it as a decision to stop an already-running watch. Its countdown continues from your last accepted Check in. On its fixed date we may ask the people you named to check on you; if they report they cannot reach you and you still do not answer, your record can reach them after the response period — unless you pause it. If no watch had started, coverage ending creates no countdown or family contact.
This means that if you stop paying after starting the watch, ignore our messages, and do not pause it, we may contact your family while you are perfectly well. We tell you the date in each runoff notice, and pausing takes one confirmation.
Pausing can only be done by someone signed in as you. It cannot be done from a link in an email, and it cannot be undone without subscribing again.
And if you do pause it: nothing will be delivered. If something happens to you while the countdown is paused, the people you named will not be asked to check on you and your record will not reach them. That is the price of a real off switch, and it is why pausing asks you to confirm on your own device. You can pause once.
What ending a subscription does not do. Nothing is deleted. You can still delete content, remove a nominee and export your record. Adding or changing content or nominees and checking in require active coverage.
The beta
- The beta is free. No payment is collected, and no payment details are asked for.
- It runs on real infrastructure with real encryption at rest, and the handover machine is live — treat what you record as real, because the people you name will be really contacted if you go quiet.
- Things will change between beta and launch. We will tell you when they do, and nothing you recorded is deleted by an update.
- You can leave at any time: export your record, delete anything, or delete the account — the erasure is a right, not a request.
What we never do
- We do not request account login credentials. Input guidance recommends keeping credentials separately; it cannot detect every sensitive detail.
- We never verify or confirm the information you record against any bank, insurer or registry — the record is yours, as you wrote it.
- We never touch your money, and we never decide who gets what.
- We never open your record to anyone you did not name.
